Target ID

Know what you're looking at, from the ground and from the air, and whether to blow it up or take it. Five minutes here and you'll stop wasting rounds on the wrong thing.

Pictures are on the way. The crew is grabbing screenshots on op nights, and each grey box fills in as they come in.

If you only read one thing

Take the FOB, don't flatten it

The enemy FOB is the heart of their position. Everything else on this page hangs off it.

  • Find the FOBThey can only build inside its square. Where there's a FOB, there are guns and walls around it, and where there are guns, there's a FOB close by.
  • Kill the crews, not the gunsTake the FOB and everything built inside its square becomes ours: their SAM, CIWS and mortars included. A SAM we blow up is a SAM we don't get.
  • Clear it, then hold FStarting the takeover sets off an alarm, and everyone nearby comes running. Clear the area and get the squad covering before anybody touches the computer.
  • Blown up helps nobodyDestroy a FOB and everything around it stays standing but goes dead, because the ammo and supplies were in the FOB. Fine if we can't hold it. A waste if we can.

Team armbands

The computer side

The enemy's hub. It holds their team's supplies, including the ammo their mortars, SAMs and CIWS reload from, and it's what lets them build anything big. They can only build inside its square, so where there's a FOB, there are guns and walls around it.

  • Getting in. Bring C4. You may have to blow a door or a wall to reach it.
  • Taking it. Find the computer side and hold F. That sets off an alarm, so clear the area and get the squad covering before anyone starts.
  • What we get. Their supplies and everything built inside the square: guns, walls, the lot.
  • If we can't hold it. Blowing it up leaves everything around it standing but useless to them. Second best, but it still shuts their guns down.

Call it"FOB, heading 090," plus what's guarding it.

Talon 9K-SAM

From the ground
From the air

A heat-seeking missile launcher that shoots down anything flying. Pilots: stay well clear until it's dealt with.

  • Going for their FOB? Leave it standing. It's ours the moment the FOB is.
  • Not going for the FOB? Take it out.
  • Running dry. It reloads from the FOB's ammo, so a SAM next to a captured or dead FOB is on its last missiles.

Call it"SAM, heading 240."

EmplacementDepends

L81 Mortar

From the ground
From the air

Lobs shells over walls and hills from somewhere close by that you can't see. If shells are landing and there's nobody in sight, the pit is within about 650 m, a short drive at most. Checked Oct 2026

  • Going for their FOB? Kill the crew, keep the tube.
  • Not going for the FOB? Destroy it.
  • Running dry. Its shells come from the FOB's ammo too.

Call itSay where the shells are landing, then ping the pit once someone spots it: "Mortar, heading 110."

Vanguard CIWS

From the ground
From the air
The operator's computer

A big rapid-fire anti-air gun for anything that flies in close. Nobody sits on the gun itself: the operator is at the computer right next to it.

  • Don't shoot the turret. Find the computer and take out whoever's sitting there. The gun goes quiet.
  • Nobody at the computer? Then it isn't firing.
  • Going for their FOB? That's all you do. The gun is ours once the FOB is.

Call it"CIWS, heading 300, someone on the computer" (or "computer's empty").

For the pilots

Air defense comes in layers

  • The SAM reaches out. Heat-seeking missiles that find you from a distance.
  • The CIWS gets you up close. Fly in near one with someone at its computer and you're done.
  • Both feed off the FOB. Once the ground team has their FOB, both run dry. Waiting for that call is the cheapest way to keep your bird.
