DAD Ops is a hobby gaming community run by volunteers. We collect as little as we can.

When you sign in with Discord

• Discord shares your username, profile picture and email address with us. Your email is used only for signing in. We never show it on the site, sell it or send you marketing.
• We store the callsign and faction you choose, your DAD Ops rank, the date you joined, and that you confirmed you're 21 or older.
• Things you do here are stored so the site works: seats you save for ops (on the site or with the Discord buttons), the nights you attended, your rank and any awards or pins.
• When you finish joining you get a service number (DAD-0001, DAD-0002 and so on, in the order people joined). It's printed on your dog tags.
• The bot hands out some ribbons by itself, like First Round and Hat Trick. It works them out from the nights you attended and your time in voice, so no extra information is collected for them.
• If you volunteer as a battle buddy (Corporal and up) or to lead ops (Sergeant and up), we store that you volunteered. When a new recruit joins, we store who they were paired with and when they made Private.
• If you pick who brought you to DAD Ops, we store that, and it shows on both of your service records.
• Your profile can also hold a usual drink, favorite loadout, one-line bio and time zone. They're all optional and show on your service record.
• You can also add linked accounts: your wardogs.tools player page, your Twitch username and your YouTube channel. We store only the player id, username, or @handle or channel id, never a password or anything from those sites, and we don't pull any data from them. They show on your service record, the Members page and /record, and the links only ever lead to wardogs.tools, twitch.tv or youtube.com. What those sites collect when someone opens a link is up to them. The S3 can take links down if one breaks the house rules, and that goes in the S3 log.
• If you go on leave (you can set it on your profile, or the S3 can), we store when it started, the "back around" date if you gave one, and when it ended. Past leaves are kept so your streak stays paused for those weeks (one you switch off within an hour is simply deleted). While you're away you're taken off as op lead for those nights. Coming back after 3 days or more gets a welcome-back shout-out in the Discord.
• If you lead op nights, we store which ops you led. It shows on the op posts, in the muster call, on your service record and in the Hall of Fame.
• Each Monday the bot picks a Regular of the Week from members who've made an op night or been in DAD Ops voice in the last 30 days (not anyone on leave). We store who was picked each week, and the bot posts it in the Discord.
• On op nights the bot checks which members are in DAD Ops voice channels, to record attendance. From 2 hours before go time to 4 hours after, it adds up how many minutes you spend in voice (every channel except The Back Booth and Kids Woke Up), and 30 minutes gets you the night. We keep one total per op, not when you joined or left, and never anything that was said.
• The bot also adds up your time in voice. Every 5 minutes, around the clock, it checks whether you're in any DAD Ops voice channel except Kids Woke Up (the AFK channel) and adds 5 minutes to that day's total. We keep one total per day, not when you joined or left, and never anything that was said.

Reminders in Discord

Anyone in the DAD Ops Discord can tap 🔔 Remind me on an op post, with or without a site account. We store your Discord account ID and which op, and the bot sends you one direct message an hour before go time (or a heads-up if the op is called off). Reminders are deleted two days after the op. Tap the bell again any time to cancel.

If you set standing orders on your profile, we store which nights you picked and the bot DMs you before each of them. The site doesn't show them, but they're kept with the rest of your profile, which isn't private. Skipping one night with the bell is stored until two days after that op.

Discord roles from your profile

The nights you pick for pings on your profile are stored with it, and the bot gives you each of those nights' roles in the Discord, so you're pinged when that op goes up. Your faction on the profile gives you the matching faction role. The bot also notes which of these roles it last set for you. Like standing orders, the site doesn't show your pings, but they aren't private.

The first time the bot sets your roles, it copies the ping and faction roles you already had in the Discord into your profile, so you don't lose any. If DAD Ops later moves a night to a Discord role you already have, that night is checked on your profile the same way. Every morning it checks that your roles in the Discord still match your profile and fixes any that don't. The bot only does this for members who have joined on the site.

Founder, Ops Leader and Battle Buddy

The bot also gives out three DAD Ops roles in the Discord. Founder is handed out by the Owner and shows as a badge next to your name on the site. Ops Leader and Battle Buddy come from the "I'll lead ops" and "I'll be a battle buddy" boxes on your profile once you have the rank, and every S3 and the Owner has them. Whether you checked those boxes isn't shown on the site, but it isn't private. The S3 can switch Ops Leader or Battle Buddy on or off for a member. We store that switch, who set it and when. The switch itself is private: only you (on your profile), the S3 and the Owner can see it, and it's noted in the S3 log. The bot's notes on which of these roles it last set for you aren't shown to anyone. The roles themselves show in the Discord like any other role. Unchecking a box steps you down from a role the S3 switched on. If you already had one of these roles in the Discord when the site took them over, the bot keeps it for you (checking the box on your profile if it needs to) and notes that in the S3 log.

Running late and Can't make it after all on the muster call post a note in that Discord channel for the squad. We store how late you said you'd be until two days after the op. Can't make it also gives up your saved seat.

The muster call also carries a muster board: who's saved a seat and whether they're in a DAD Ops voice channel (which one), in Kids Woke Up, somewhere else in voice, running late or not in voice yet, plus members in voice without a seat. The bot redraws it from the same 5-minute voice check until 15 minutes after go time, then leaves the final count up. It only names voice channels everyone in the Discord can see: someone in a private channel just shows as being in a private channel. Who was in voice isn't stored: we only keep where the muster call is, so the bot can update it, and delete that after a month.

Promotion certificates and recruiting links

Every promotion comes with a certificate: your callsign, service number, the rank you made and the date. The website draws it from your rank history whenever someone opens it, and the bot posts it with your promotion shout-out in the Discord. It shows nothing that isn't already on your service record.

Your own service record shows you your recruiting link (dadops.gg/r/ plus your callsign and service number). When someone opens it, their browser remembers who sent them for 30 days, in its own local storage and not on our servers, so "Who brought you" is filled in when they join. It's only used when joining: they can change it before saving, it's forgotten once they've saved, and it's forgotten when someone who's already a member signs in.

The Discord member list

Every 10 minutes the bot reads the DAD Ops Discord's member list: Discord account ID, username, server nickname and when you joined the server. We keep it so the bot welcomes each new person once with a direct message, so a site member who joins (or comes back to) the Discord gets their rank, ping and faction roles, and so the S3 can see who hasn't joined on the site yet. Only the S3 can see this list. Once you've been out of the Discord for 30 days, you're taken off it.

If you haven't been around for a while, the S3 can have the bot send you one friendly direct message (at most once every two weeks). We store when it was sent and whether it got through.

The bot keeps a log of what it did, like "posted the muster call", so problems are easy to spot. Only the S3 sees it, and it's deleted after two weeks.

When the S3 changes something on the website (roll call, awards, pins, ops, op leads, news, staff badges and other roles, campaigns, nudges, someone's leave or taking down someone's linked accounts), the S3 log notes who did it, what and when. It names the members involved by callsign. Only the S3 and the Owner can see it. Entries are deleted after a year, and they stay for that year even if an account they mention is deleted.

What's public

Your callsign, Discord picture, faction, rank, staff and Founder badges, service number, service record (nights attended), ribbons, pins (and which ones you picked to wear), streaks, campaign standings, battle buddy pairings, who brought you to DAD Ops, your profile extras (drink, loadout, bio, time zone), your linked accounts (wardogs.tools, Twitch, YouTube), whether you're on leave (and your "back around" date), the op nights you led, your top squadmates (the members you've made the most op nights with, worked out from roll call), the weeks you were Regular of the Week, the last op night you made, your promotion certificates and the ops you've signed up for can be seen by anyone who visits the site. The Hall of Fame and campaign pages rank members by these same numbers. Anyone in the Discord can bring up your service record with /record. The SITREP channels at the top of the Discord only show counts, never names. Dog tags and Tour of Duty cards are drawn by your own browser, so nothing is uploaded when you make them. Only you can make your Tour of Duty card, because it includes your time in voice. Your time in voice, and the last day you were in DAD Ops voice (the day, never the time), is shown only to signed-in members (including the voice records in the Hall of Fame and on campaign pages), and big milestones (like 100 hours) get a shout-out in the Discord. Your Discord account ID is used behind the scenes for the seat buttons, pings and roles, and is never shown.

Where it lives

The site is hosted on Vercel and the member data is stored with Supabase. Fonts load from Google Fonts. Your browser's local storage keeps you signed in (and, if you opened a recruiting link, who sent you). No ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.

Deleting your stuff

Sign in, open your profile (top right) and choose Delete my account. That removes your profile, service number, service record, ribbons, pins, voice time, battle buddy pairings, profile extras, linked accounts, standing orders, pings, role switches, leave history and saved seats for good, takes your name off any op you led or week you were Regular of the Week, and has the bot take your rank, ping, faction, Founder, Ops Leader and Battle Buddy roles off you in the Discord (for that, your Discord account ID is kept until it's done, a week at most). Discord reminders clear themselves two days after each op. Promotion shout-outs the bot already posted in the Discord (with their certificate pictures) stay up; ask the S3 if you'd like them taken down. You can also ask the S3 in Discord to delete your account for you.

Age

DAD Ops is for adults 21 and older only.
